In 1985, two young men from Kolkata embarked upon a mission – to make home-buying a hassle-free experience for home seekers, without any pitfalls.
Thus was born the PS Group – pioneered by Pradip Kumar Chopra and Surendra Kumar Dugar. The city of Kolkata thereafter was to witnessed a sea-change in its Real Estate scene.
In early Eighties the legendary Jamuna Barua, wife of Pramathesh Chandra Barua inspired us to develop her property on which her old dilapidated house stood. The property was soon transformed into a modern apartment block. This was the First PS GROUP PROJECT, COMPLETED IN 1985.
The experience so gained led us onto an exciting journey.
Our next opportunity arose in developing the property owned by the descendants of Sir N.N. Sircar and B.N. Sircar, which was steeped in tenancy problems. We got the property against all odds and developed it in a record time of 15 months from the date of obtaining the vacant possession.
This was in the year 1987. Kolkata had tremendous shortage of housing. It was almost a seller's market. Real Estate Development was unorganized. Business was also carried out very unprofessionally. We started slowly but steadily with a core attitude to align our corporate mission with that of the national mission of “Building Quality Homes for our citizens.”
Our 25th project was the property of Suchitra Sen developed into 'Vedant Apartment'on Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata, where she and her daughter live.
Between 2000 and 2004, within a short span of four years we added another 25 projects - What earlier would have taken us 15 years.
'Nature's Nest' at Jadavpur, Kolkata was our 50th project which was built on the property owned by Naresh Kumar, the famous Tennis player who represented India in many International Tennis Tournaments.
The Group has since then had the rare distinction of developing properties for Kolkata’s elite and who’s who eg. Lord S.P. Sinha, Princely Estate of Natore and Raja Santosh Roy Chowdhury, Admiral Roy etc.
Another 25 projects were added in the next two years between 2004 and 2006.
We achieved the completion of our 75th project while completing 'Trinity Tower' at Topsia. This also presently houses our corporate office, measuring about 8000 sq.ft.
'PS Plush' is our 100th project.
We now intend to complete another 50 projects in the next 4 years.
